Immediate reactions
Metrolinx said overnight testing identified track issues that required repair work between Weston Station and Pearson, prompting the service modification. The operator advised travellers bound for Pearson that GO shuttle buses are available and encouraged passengers who prefer surface transit to consider the TTC route 900 Airport Express from Kipling Station. UP Express representatives are positioned at the temporary downtown stop to support transfers and answer questions.
What’s next
At this time it is not yet known what led to the unplanned track work or when full train service on the up express line will resume. Metrolinx repair crews are on site working on the section between Weston Station and Pearson; riders should expect shuttle operations to remain in place until crews confirm repairs and safe conditions for trains. Travel plans should account for added ground time and the temporary boarding location on Station Street at York Street as officials monitor progress Thursday morning ET.
