Florida Woman Charged for Allegedly Shooting at Rihanna’s Home
A Florida woman has been charged for allegedly firing shots at the home of music icon Rihanna. Ivanna Ortiz, a 35-year-old from Orlando, is facing serious criminal charges following the incident that occurred this week.
Charges and Legal Proceedings
Ortiz has been charged with multiple offenses, including:
- One count of attempted murder
- Nine counts of assault with a firearm
- Two counts of shooting into an inhabited dwelling
- One count of shooting at a motor vehicle
During a hearing in downtown Los Angeles on Tuesday, Ortiz appeared in a blue jail jumpsuit, wearing her hair in blonde braids. She did not enter a plea. An arraignment is set for March 26, and she is currently held on a bail amount of $1.8 million.
Incident Details
The shooting incident took place outside Rihanna’s home in Beverly Crest. Authorities reported that Ortiz fired from a parked vehicle early on Sunday afternoon. Fortunately, no injuries were reported; however, the bullets struck Rihanna’s residence, an Airstream on the property, and a neighboring house.
At the time, both Rihanna and her partner, ASAP Rocky, were present at the Airstream with their children. Additional victims listed in the complaint include Rihanna’s mother and two individuals living nearby. Prosecutor Nathan Hochman emphasized the importance of community safety and promised accountability for violent actions.
Arrest and Investigation
According to police, a witness observed Ortiz driving a white Tesla near Rihanna’s home before the shooting occurred. Officers later tracked the vehicle using a license plate reader and arrested Ortiz in Sherman Oaks without incident. Inside her car, authorities discovered an “AR-15-style” rifle and ammunition.
Ortiz’s Background
Ivanna Ortiz is a licensed speech therapist and has multiple prior arrests, including charges related to careless driving and domestic violence. Recently, she had made alarming social media posts about Rihanna, including false allegations regarding the singer’s health.
As investigations continue, the motive behind the shooting remains unclear. Law enforcement is working diligently to determine if Ortiz had any prior interaction with Rihanna. If convicted, Ortiz could face a life sentence in California.
