Tom Dundon, Owner and Governor of the Carolina Hurricanes, has announced the addition of three new investors to the team’s ownership group. The new members are Brett Jefferson, Marc Grandisson, and Bobby Farnham. While Dundon maintains majority ownership and his role as the team’s lead governor, the new investors have taken on minority stakes. Dundon praised the new investors, stating, “Brett, Marc, and Bobby are accomplished business executives whose experiences and knowledge will help us continue to grow our team’s success and impact in the Triangle.” Jefferson resides in the Triangle area, while Grandisson is planning to move to Raleigh. Farnham, a former NHL player, adds a unique perspective to the ownership group.

He has over 30 years of experience in the industry and has led significant initiatives, including Hildene’s creation of Hildene Re, providing reinsurance solutions. Jefferson is also active in philanthropy and sports, being a minor investor in the Oshawa FireWolves.
  • Marc Grandisson: A retired CEO with extensive experience in the reinsurance and insurance sectors. He previously led Arch Capital Group and holds degrees in Actuarial Science and an MBA. His industry background includes roles at notable firms like Berkshire Hathaway.
  • Bobby Farnham: A former professional hockey player with experience in the NHL and AHL. Post-retirement, he co-founded Fourth Line Capital and is involved with Market Basket. His educational accolades include a degree from Brown University and an MBA from Harvard Business School.

The transactions regarding the new minority ownership were facilitated by LionTree Advisors and Smith Anderson. The official introduction of the new investors will take place on March 18, just before the Hurricanes’ home game against the Pittsburgh Penguins.
