Damson Idris Wears Original Marquise Blue Diamond Brooch on Oscars Red Carpet
damson idris designed and wore a custom marquise blue diamond brooch on the 2026 Oscars red carpet as a tribute to his family and jewelry roots. The British-Nigerian actor presented the piece while dressed in a custom Prada navy suit and brought the brooch to life through his fine jewelry label, DIDRIS. He worked with bespoke jeweler Theo Ioannou at CAD-MAN inside the Goldsmiths’ Centre to finish the piece ahead of the ceremony.
Design, diamonds and provenance
The brooch centers on a heat-treated, natural marquise blue diamond weighing 7. 41 carats, flanked by two white marquise diamonds and two pairs of triangle diamonds. Surrounding the centerpiece are 42 natural white diamonds carrying a combined weight of 6. 38 carats. All stones were sourced De Beers from Botswana and South Africa and carry certification through the Kimberley Process, an international scheme supported by the UN designed to prevent conflict diamonds from entering the supply chain. The number of white diamonds was chosen deliberately: 42 equals seven multiplied by six, with six reflecting the number of children in Idris’s family and seven invoked for its cultural association with completion and the divine.
Damson Idris on legacy and craft
Damson Idris framed the project as more than a fashion moment. “The idea of connection is the biggest thing for DIDRIS, ” he said, adding that “it’s more than a brand—it’s a legacy, and it’s a legacy that started with my mother. ” His mother, Silifat Idris, worked in the jewelry business in London, buying and selling gold while he was growing up, and that history informed the decision to prioritize provenance. Idris also noted his long relationship with Prada in choosing the suit that accompanied the brooch.
The technical build paired Idris’s design with the studio expertise of Theo Ioannou, founder of CAD-MAN. Ioannou described the maker’s responsibility: “In our craft, nothing is concealed. Structure, setting and surface must be resolved with care, because what we make carries both material and human value. Jewelry is never neutral. At its core it carries value, love and memory. ” The brooch was completed rapidly; Idris designed the Oscars piece a month before the event and then executed it with CAD-MAN.
Background, debut and commercial roll-out
Idris launched his luxury jewelry label, DIDRIS, just over a year ago and debuted the first pieces at the 2025 Met Gala with a pocket-watch–inspired brooch set anchored by an 11-carat emerald. DIDRIS offers a range that has included the Monogram Cuff, a Tahitian pearl necklace and the Compass Earrings; pieces have been listed at set prices and are sold exclusively through his online boutique. Idris has described entering the jewelry business as a “real trial” but framed it as a deliberate move to make work he can be proud of rather than a typical celebrity side hustle.
What’s next
The Oscars appearance comes as F1: The Movie, the film tied to Idris’s rising profile, earned four Academy Award nominations for March 15, 2026 (ET). With DIDRIS already on display at major red-carpet moments, the next steps for the label will be customer availability through its boutique and further craft collaborations. Observers can expect DIDRIS shows and new releases that continue the personal storytelling at the brand’s core, keeping damson idris’s family legacy and provenance front and center as the label grows.
