NBA Considers Expanding; Will NFL Follow with Own New Teams?
Major sports leagues are increasingly focusing on expansion as a means to boost revenue. The NBA is contemplating the addition of new teams to its roster, specifically targeting Las Vegas and Seattle as potential locations. NBA Expansion Plans
According to Shams Charania of ESPN, the NBA could welcome two new franchises by 2028. The league currently consists of 30 teams, and this expansion would elevate that number to 32. The estimated expansion fees for prospective teams are projected to be between $7 billion and $10 billion.
The NFL’s Consideration
The NFL is also closely monitoring these developments. Presently, the league is working on extending its regular season from 17 games to 18, effectively increasing the overall number of games played. This transition would see the total rise from 272 games to 288.
