Joseph Duggar, a former star of the reality show “19 Kids and Counting,” has been arrested for allegedly sexually abusing a minor. The 31-year-old was apprehended on Wednesday by law enforcement in Tontitown, Arkansas.

Duggar is facing serious charges for lewd and lascivious behavior involving a 9-year-old girl during a family vacation in Panama City Beach, Florida, in 2020. The Bay County Sheriff’s Office in Florida announced the charges after a 14-year-old provided information regarding the incidents.

According to police reports, the victim recounted multiple inappropriate encounters with Duggar. She claimed that he repeatedly urged her to sit on his lap and next to him on a couch under a shared blanket. The young girl eventually confided her experiences to her father, who confronted Duggar a day before his arrest. Reports state that Duggar confessed to his actions, both to the father and to investigators. Following the apology, the victim noted that the inappropriate behavior ceased.
