Joseph Duggar of ’19 Kids & Counting’ Arrested for Child Sex Abuse

Joseph Duggar, known for his appearance on the reality shows “19 Kids and Counting” and “Counting On”, has been arrested on charges of child sexual abuse. The arrest took place on a Wednesday, after a 14-year-old girl accused him of abusive behavior that allegedly started when she was only nine years old.

Details of the Arrest

According to the Bay County Sheriff’s Office in Florida, the 31-year-old Duggar faces charges of lewd and lascivious behavior involving unlawful sexual activity with a minor. This investigation was initiated after a report from a detective with the Tontitown Police Department was received on March 18, 2026.

Victim’s Testimony

The young victim participated in a forensic interview, where she described multiple incidents during a family vacation in Panama City Beach. She indicated that these occurrences began when she was just nine years old.

  • Duggar reportedly encouraged her to sit on his lap.
  • He also asked her to sit next to him on a couch, covering them with a blanket.
  • During these moments, he manipulated her underwear and touched her genitals.
  • Additionally, he rubbed his hands on her thighs.

After the incidents, the victim reported that Duggar apologized for his actions, which appeared to put a stop to the abusive behavior.

Admission of Guilt

Authorities have stated that Duggar admitted to the inappropriate actions. This confession was made to both his father and law enforcement after he was confronted about the allegations on March 17.
