Disney+ Renews ‘Wonder Man’ for Exciting Season 2

The Marvel series “Wonder Man” has officially been renewed for Season 2 on Disney+. This exciting announcement arrives approximately two months after the first season premiered.

Key Details About “Wonder Man”

The inaugural season of “Wonder Man” debuted on January 27 and consists of eight episodes. The series stars:

  • Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Simon Williams
  • Ben Kingsley as Trevor Slattery
  • X Mayo
  • Demetrius Grosse
  • Zlatko Burić
  • Arian Moayed
  • Olivia Thirlby

Both Abdul-Mateen and Kingsley are set to reprise their roles for the upcoming season. The series was created by Destin Daniel Cretton and Andrew Guest, who will also return in key roles; Guest as showrunner and executive producer, and Cretton as director and executive producer.

Season 1 Highlights

The plot follows aspiring actor Simon Williams, portrayed by Abdul-Mateen, who struggles to find success in Hollywood. A chance encounter with Trevor Slattery leads Simon to learn about a remake of the superhero film “Wonder Man,” directed by Von Kovak, played by Burić. The narrative explores the lives of these two artists as they navigate the challenges of the entertainment industry.

“Wonder Man” has received critical acclaim, maintaining a 91% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Alison Herman from Variety praised the performances, noting, “Abdul-Mateen and Kingsley make their characters equally ridiculous and romantic.”

Marvel’s Series Landscape

This renewal is notable as it represents one of the few instances where a live-action Marvel Cinematic Universe series has received a second season. Other series previously aired on Disney+ include:

  • “WandaVision”
  • “Hawkeye”
  • “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier”
  • “Moon Knight”

While “Loki” has successfully completed two seasons, the spinoff series “Vision Quest” is also currently in development. In March 2025, Disney+ is set to relaunch the Marvel-Netflix series “Daredevil” under the title “Daredevil: Born Again,” with a second season on the horizon.
