FX is expanding the cast of its acclaimed drama series, Shōgun, ahead of its highly anticipated second season. The production, now underway in Vancouver, sees the addition of five new members who will enrich the narrative of the series.

Background and Achievements
Shōgun, based on James Clavell’s bestselling novel, has received significant acclaim, winning 18 Emmy Awards in its first season. This set a record for the most Emmys won by a series in a single season, including the prestigious Outstanding Drama Series award.
Notably, Hiroyuki Sanada made history as the first Japanese actor to win the Emmy for Lead Actor in a Drama Series. In a groundbreaking moment for representation, Anna Sawai was recognized as the first actress of Asian descent to win Lead Actress.
The series has also garnered numerous accolades, including the Golden Globe for Best Television Series – Drama and the AFI TV Program of the Year award.
Production and Streaming Details
Season 2 of Shōgun will premiere on Hulu in the U.S. It will also be available on Disney+ internationally, in addition to airing on the FX channel.
Shōgun’s casting for this season was overseen by Kei Kawamura and Laura Schiff, who received an Emmy for Outstanding Casting in a Drama Series during the first season.
