Joe Flacco Criticizes Decision Excluding Him as Starting Quarterback

Joe Flacco has recently joined the Cincinnati Bengals as a backup quarterback, but he believes he still possesses the skills necessary to be a starter. Last season, Flacco began as the starting quarterback for the Cleveland Browns before being traded to the Bengals to lead their offense while starter Joe Burrow recovered from an injury.

Flacco’s Performance and Critique

Reflecting on his past performance, Flacco had a respectable season with the Bengals. He recorded:

  • 1,664 yards passing
  • 13 touchdowns
  • 4 interceptions
  • 61.7% completion rate

Despite these numbers, Flacco was not offered a starting position by any team this month. He expressed his disappointment at this decision during a press conference. “Believe me, I wish I was a guy somewhere,” Flacco stated. He further criticized teams that chose not to consider him as their primary quarterback option, stating, “I think teams are dumb for not having me be that guy.”

Looking Ahead

While Flacco is currently a backup, he has previously made successful comebacks to the starting lineup. Given the ever-changing dynamics of the NFL, there may still be opportunities for him to return as a starting quarterback this season.
