NBC Renews ‘Chicago Fire,’ ‘Chicago PD,’ and ‘Chicago Med’
NBC has officially renewed its popular shows “Chicago Fire,” “Chicago P.D.,” and “Chicago Med.” These renewals ensure “Chicago Fire” will enter its 15th season, “Chicago P.D.” will reach its 14th, and “Chicago Med” will begin its 12th season. All three series are expected to return in the fall of the 2026-2027 broadcast season.
Consistent Ratings and a Loyal Audience
The quick renewals of these shows come earlier than usual for NBC. Typically, announcements for the “One Chicago” franchise are made in April, just ahead of the NBCUniversal upfront presentation to advertisers in May. Despite their longevity, these dramas continue to be strong performers on NBC’s primetime schedule.
All three series are crucial to NBC’s Wednesday night lineup, airing back-to-back. On March 4, NBC showcased a “One Chicago” crossover event, leading to season highs in total viewers for each show.

All three series are produced by Universal Television in partnership with Wolf Entertainment, which has a long-standing relationship with NBC. Notable executive producers include:
- Chicago Fire: Andrea Newman, Reza Tabrizi, Matt Whitney

Other NBC Decisions
NBC has also renewed the comedies “Happy’s Place” and “St. Denis Medical.” However, decisions are still pending for freshman comedies like “Stumble” and “The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins.” Additionally, the network will need to finalize decisions regarding “The Hunting Party” and “Brilliant Minds.” Notably, “Brilliant Minds” was recently removed from the schedule, indicating potential cancellation.
This year, NBC is revisiting pilot season, considering reboots such as “The Rockford Files” featuring David Boreanaz, along with a new show from Dick Wolf titled “What the Dead Know.” The future looks promising for the “Chicago” series as they continue to capture viewers’ interest.
