No NFL Discipline for Chiefs WR Rashee Rice Amid Abuse Allegations

The NFL has completed its investigation into Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice, stating that he will not face any disciplinary action. The league determined that there was insufficient evidence to conclude Rice violated the personal conduct policy.

No NFL Discipline for Rashee Rice

Rice, 25, expressed gratitude to the NFL for the thorough review. His attorney, Sean Lindsey, noted that Rice is eager for the upcoming 2026-27 NFL season. The Chiefs organization chose not to comment on the league’s findings.

Background of Allegations

In January, Dacoda Jones, Rice’s former girlfriend, made claims of abuse spanning several years. She posted images on social media showcasing bruises and lacerations on her body. Although she did not name Rice publicly in that post, she referred to him as the father of her two children.

  • Jones stated, “I’ve had ENOUGH!” in her since-deleted post.
  • She revealed they ended their relationship in 2025, describing her life since as “nothing but hell.”
  • In February, she filed a lawsuit in Texas alleging Rice assaulted her during an 18-month period from 2023 to 2025.

Details of the Lawsuit

Jones claims the alleged abuses included physical violence such as strangulation, hitting, and use of inanimate objects. She is currently seeking damages exceeding $1 million. Lindsey, representing Rice, pointed out that after their relationship ended, Jones had acknowledged in a sworn Affidavit that Rice did not physically harm her during a verbal disagreement.

Previous Incidents Involving Rice

Prior to these allegations, Rice was involved in a significant legal incident in March 2024. He was cited for reckless driving after a high-speed crash that injured multiple individuals. The incident involved Rice driving a Lamborghini Urus SUV at 119 mph with teammate Theodore Knox in another vehicle. They did not assist the injured, instead fleeing the scene.

Subsequently, Rice took responsibility and was arrested after the authorities issued a warrant. He was sentenced to 30 days in jail and five years of probation, following a guilty plea on charges related to the crash. The NFL previously suspended him for six games due to violations of the personal conduct policy arising from this incident.

Meanwhile, Knox faced similar charges and penalties. A Texas court recently issued a default judgment of over $2.8 million against Knox.

Upcoming Legal Developments

Rice’s upcoming trial is scheduled for June 9, focusing on the allegations brought forward by Jones.
