2026 Minicamps and OTAs Dates Announced
The NFL has announced the dates for the 2026 Minicamps and OTAs, outlining key details for clubs as they prepare for the upcoming season. These essential offseason programs are structured under the Collective Bargaining Agreement, which governs the offseason activities of each team.
Overview of Offseason Programs
The offseason program spans a total of nine weeks and is divided into three distinct phases:
Phase One
- Duration: First two weeks
- Focus: Meetings, strength and conditioning, and rehabilitation activities only
Phase Two
- Duration: Next three weeks
- Activities: Includes individual or group instruction and drills at a walk-through pace
- No live contact or team drills allowed
Phase Three
- Duration: Final four weeks
- Activities: Consists of a total of 10 organized team practice activities (OTAs)
- Permitted drills: 7-on-7, 9-on-7, and 11-on-11 formats, with no live contact
Mandatory Minicamp for Veterans
According to Article 22 of the Collective Bargaining Agreement, each club must hold one mandatory minicamp for veteran players during Phase Three. This camp is crucial for players to develop their skills and prepare for the season ahead. Newly appointed head coaches may also conduct an additional voluntary minicamp for veterans.
Upcoming Rookie Development Programs
In 2026, NFL teams will initiate their rookie development programs starting on May 11. This program will last for seven weeks, and no activities are permitted over weekends, except for one post-Draft rookie minicamp. This minicamp can be scheduled on either the first or second weekend following the NFL Draft, taking place from April 23 to 25.
Details regarding the specific dates for each club’s post-Draft rookie minicamps will be shared later as teams finalize their schedules.
