Golf Scores: Scheffler arrives at Masters with newborn Remy

AUGUSTA, Ga. — Scottie Scheffler and Meredith Scheffler welcomed their second child, Remy, last week, and golf scores around Augusta National now come with a family update attached. The family was on-site Sunday at Augusta National as Scheffler warmed up for an afternoon practice round, with Meredith, Bennett, and the newborn all nearby.

Family first, Masters second

Scheffler said the arrival of another son has made the week feel different in the best possible way. “We had another boy a couple of weeks ago, and, yeah, it’s been really nice and fun, ” Scheffler told Golf Channel’s Cara Banks. He added that he was glad they could travel with him this week and said Meredith “is a trooper” for bringing the boys.

The newborn Remy was in a stroller with Scheffler’s parents, Scott and Diane, while Meredith and Bennett watched Scheffler prepare for the round. The Schefflers now have two boys under the age of 2, with Bennett nearing his second birthday after being born in May 2024.

Golf scores and the road to Augusta

Scheffler withdrew from the Texas Children’s Houston Open last week for family reasons ahead of Remy’s birth. He had not played competitively since THE PLAYERS Championship, where he finished tied for 22nd. For a player who entered the week seventh in the FedExCup, the timing meant less competitive tune-up time than he had hoped for, but the family milestone took priority.

Earlier this season, Scheffler won his opening start at The American Express in January and added top-five finishes at the WM Phoenix Open and AT& T Pebble Beach Pro-Am. He later finished outside the top 10 at The Genesis Invitational, ending a modern-era run of 18 straight top-10 finishes. Even with that form in the background, the focus in Augusta on Sunday was unmistakably personal, and golf scores felt secondary to the moment.

What Scheffler brought with him

The full family presence at Augusta National gave a clear picture of where Scheffler’s attention is heading into the week. Meredith and Bennett watched the practice session, while Remy stayed close with Scheffler’s parents, making the trip a family-wide arrival rather than a solo tournament stop.

Scheffler has already won the Masters twice, and the possibility of a third green jacket now sits beside a much newer story at home. If he ends the week with another win, golf scores will matter in the history books, but the first memory from this Masters may be the one his family created before the tournament even began.
