TMZ Reports Ransom Note Claims Nancy Guthrie, Savannah’s Mother, Is Dead

TMZ has reported the emergence of two additional ransom notes concerning the case of Nancy Guthrie, the mother of Savannah Guthrie, host of the TODAY show. Nancy Guthrie, age 84, has been missing since February 1, and these notes claim to provide key information about her alleged kidnapping.

Details of the Ransom Notes

According to TMZ, the notes were sent by an unidentified individual who previously requested one bitcoin for information regarding Nancy’s disappearance. The most recent communication claims, “I know where her body is, and who the kidnapper is. Give me half a bitcoin and I’ll tell you.”

Claims of Nancy Guthrie’s Status

  • The notes allegedly state that Nancy Guthrie “is dead.”
  • Another line from the note insists, “I saw her alive in the state of Sonora, Mexico.”

Efforts to Investigate

TMZ has notified the FBI about these ransom notes, which demand payment to reveal critical details. The unidentified sender claims they will share information in exchange for half a bitcoin upfront, with the second half contingent on a public arrest.

Despite the serious nature of these claims, law enforcement has reportedly dismissed the sender as a scammer. Harvey Levin, founder of TMZ, noted the sender’s persistence despite the risk of legal consequences.

The Sender’s Statements

In their message, the anonymous individual expressed frustration at being seen as a scam. They mentioned being outside the United States for over five years and emphasized their desire for a peaceful life.

“I just want what’s fair and to live peacefully,” the letter reportedly states.

Current Status of the Investigation

The Pima County Sheriff’s Office has not yet identified any suspects in Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance. Sheriff Chris Nanos’s team continues to investigate the ongoing case as new developments arise.
