Hayle pub opens at Haven holiday park as season kicks off

A new hayle venue has opened at Haven’s Riviere Sands Holiday Park, bringing a JD Wetherspoon pub onto the site in time for the holiday season. The Bluff is now serving at the Cornish park after a takeover of an existing pub already called The Bluff Inn.

The opening is part of a wider rollout of new Wetherspoon pubs at Haven holiday parks. At Riviere Sands, the venue is set up to welcome guests with breakfast service from 8am and opening hours that run late through the busiest months of the year.

Hayle opening brings The Bluff into service

The Bluff is located at Riviere Towans in hayle, with the pub retaining its original name and its coastal setting. The venue is described as offering prominent views over the coastline, and its carpet design has been created to reflect the Hayle Estuary, the town’s industrial heritage, and the flora and fauna of the Cornish coastline.

During the peak summer season, more than 60 staff will work at the venue, which can accommodate up to 380 guests. In July and August, it is due to stay open until midnight every day, then until 11pm from March to June and September to November.

What guests can expect

The bar will serve real ale, wines, craft beers and cocktails, while the food menu includes traditional breakfasts, fish and chips, burgers and pizzas. That gives holidaymakers a familiar pub option on site as the season gets underway.

hayle is one of several Haven locations now linked to the Wetherspoon partnership, with other pubs already opened at Lakeland in Cumbria, Hopton in Norfolk and Cala Gran in Blackpool. The company and Haven signed the partnership so the hostelry could open onsite in time for the holiday season.

Immediate reaction from Haven

Darren Hiscock, general manager at Haven Riviere Sands, said: “This is a fantastic addition to Riviere Sands Holiday Park and something we know our guests and owners have been eagerly anticipating. We’re thrilled to kick off the season by opening the doors to our brand new pub. ”

His remarks underline how the opening has been positioned: as an extra draw for holidaymakers already staying on the park, and as part of the wider seasonal push across Haven sites.

Where this sits in the wider rollout

The Hayle opening is one piece of a broader expansion that began with Haven’s first pub deal in March 2024 at Primrose Valley Holiday Park in Filey. Since then, further pubs have opened at several sites, and the latest launch adds another venue to that growing list.

For guests in hayle, the immediate change is straightforward: a new on-site pub, a fuller food and drinks offer, and longer trading hours through the busiest part of the year. More openings are already part of the wider plan, and the next phase of the rollout will be watched closely by holidaymakers and park owners alike.
