Dorn Becomes Fifth Hoosier to Enter 2026-27 IU Basketball Portal

The Indiana Hoosiers basketball program is undergoing significant changes for the 2026-27 season. Following a challenging first season under Head Coach Darian DeVries, only four players are currently confirmed for next year’s roster.

Season Overview

Under DeVries, the Hoosiers finished the 2025-26 season with an overall record of 18-14. They ended the Big Ten competition with a 9-11 record, ultimately finishing in 10th place. This marked the third consecutive year that IU missed the NCAA tournament, the last appearance being in 2023.

Player Departures

As the transfer portal opened on April 7, five scholarship players announced their intent to transfer. The following players have entered the portal:

  • Jason Drake
  • Jasai Miles
  • Josh Harris
  • Aleksa Ristic
  • Nick Dorn

Dorn is notably the fifth Hoosier to enter the portal, with his announcement coming on April 9. The portal will remain open until April 21.

Players Not Returning

Six players from the 2025-26 roster have completed their eligibility and will not be returning for the upcoming season. These players include:

  • Tucker DeVries
  • Lamar Wilkerson
  • Tayton Conerway
  • Conor Enright
  • Reed Bailey
  • Sam Alexis

These six athletes contributed significantly to IU’s scoring and will leave a gap in the roster.

Players Confirmed to Return

Currently, Trent Sisley is the only confirmed returnee for the 2026-27 season. As a freshman, he averaged 4.2 points and 2.8 rebounds per game. Sisley will be expected to step up as the leading scorer for next year’s team.

New Additions

Despite the losses, the Hoosiers are looking to strengthen their roster with new talent. Indiana has secured commitments from three high school players:

  • Prince-Alexander Moody (Guard)
  • Vaughn Karvala (Wing)
  • Trevor Manhertz (Wing)

This recruiting class is currently ranked among the top 20 nationally, showcasing IU’s promising future.

Transfer Portal Updates

As of now, the Hoosiers have not yet acquired any players from the transfer portal, but the next couple of weeks will be critical for roster adjustments. Visits from prospective players are set to begin after April 10 due to a recent NCAA dead period.

El-Balad will continue to monitor and update the status of the Indiana Hoosiers roster as the offseason progresses.
