Brian Williams Netflix Podcast Set to Put Former Anchor Back in the Spotlight
Brian Williams Netflix Podcast is officially on the way, with the former NBC News and MSNBC anchor launching a video series for the streaming platform called We’re Back! With Brian Williams. The show will feature relaxed, wide-ranging interviews with newsmakers, actors, musicians, journalists, athletes and other prominent figures. A release date has not been announced.
A New Format for Brian Williams Netflix Podcast
The project marks a return to a more regular on-camera role for Williams after years away from nightly television news. The concept is built around longer conversations than the rapid pace of broadcast news, with the platform describing the format as a place for exchanges about guests’ work, their lives and the moment being lived through right now.
Williams said that the timing felt right for him to “get in the game, ” adding that after 40 years in news, he wanted to have interesting conversations with “creative, funny, smart, talented, and consequential people. ” He also said the platform is the “perfect home” for the show.
What the Show Will Cover
Brian Williams Netflix Podcast will not be limited to political or hard-news guests. The plan is to bring in a broad mix of public figures, including scientists, actors, athletes, journalists and musicians, and to let the conversations stretch beyond the short interviews common in television news. The goal is a looser, more personal exchange, while still keeping the focus on people shaping culture and public life.
The program is being executive produced by Jonathan Wald, who previously worked with Williams at NBC and also executive produced Williams’s live election special for Amazon Prime Video in 2024. That special marked his return to TV news, but this new project shifts him into a steadier digital video format.
Why This Return Matters
Williams spent nearly three decades at NBC, including an 11-year run as anchor of NBC Nightly News before leaving in 2015 after falsehoods and exaggerations were found in some of his reporting. He later moved to MSNBC, where he created and led The 11th Hour, before leaving the company at the end of 2021.
That history gives Brian Williams Netflix Podcast extra weight: it is both a comeback and a test of how audiences respond to a familiar news voice in a more conversational setting. The series arrives as streaming platforms continue to lean on recognizable names to anchor original talk formats, and this one is built around Williams’s strongest asset — the interview. For now, the release date remains TBD, but Brian Williams Netflix Podcast is already positioned as a notable return to the public conversation.
