Hulk Hogan Exposes Alarming Fentanyl Usage in Final Interview

Wrestling icon Hulk Hogan revealed significant details about his struggles with pain management and fentanyl usage during a candid interview in Netflix’s docuseries, “Hulk Hogan: Real American.” The series, released in October 2025, marks a notable moment as Hogan confronted his history of substance abuse.

Fentanyl Usage Revealed

In his final interview, Hogan disclosed that he was prescribed unprecedented amounts of fentanyl to cope with chronic pain. He stated, “I was taking 80-milligram fentanyls, two in the morning, stuffing them under my gums.” Hogan explained that he also used two 300mg fentanyl patches and consumed six 1500mg fentanyl lollipops daily. According to him, a pharmacist once remarked, “You should be dead. We have never seen a human being take this much fentanyl.”

Turning Point in Hogan’s Life

The usage of fentanyl began after Hogan’s divorce from his ex-wife, Linda Hogan, in 2009. He described a period of financial struggles where he felt “broke” after giving Linda 70% of his assets. “TNA saved me,” Hogan noted, emphasizing how he turned to Total Nonstop Action Wrestling for financial relief during a tumultuous time.

Physical and Emotional Toll

At the time, Hogan faced significant physical challenges. He was unable to sleep comfortably and reported severe pain, stating that even a minor movement could trigger debilitating spasms. Eric Bischoff, a former TNA executive, reflected on Hogan’s struggles, remarking, “Hulk was in the darkest, most devastating part of his life.”

Legacy and Final Years

Hogan last stepped into the wrestling ring in 2012, subsequently leaving TNA in 2013 after his contract expired. Tragically, he passed away from a heart attack in July 2025 at the age of 71. His death was ruled natural, with reports indicating pre-existing conditions, including leukemia and atrial fibrillation. He was laid to rest in Clearwater, Florida, following a private funeral.

Personal Life

Hogan is the father of two children, Brooke and Nick, with his ex-wife Linda. He married Sky Daily in September 2023, a new chapter in his personal life amidst his earlier struggles.

The revelations in this docuseries highlight the dark realities of opioid dependency in the world of professional wrestling, underscoring the need for awareness regarding substance abuse.
