According to reports from The Straits Times, the suspect allegedly downloaded the animated movie after illegally accessing the media server. Authorities confiscated several electronic devices during the investigation.

If convicted, the man may face a prison sentence of up to seven years. Additionally, he could be fined as much as $50,000, or potentially both penalties.

Last week, clips of the unreleased film surfaced on social media, specifically on X, where a user claimed the leak came from an accidental email sent by someone at Nickelodeon. This user expressed their frustration over Paramount’s choice to forgo a theatrical release, choosing instead to stream the film.

The user threatened to release the entire movie if Paramount did not provide a trailer.

Release Date Changes for The Legend of Aang

The Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender was initially set to premiere in theaters on October 10, 2025. However, the release date has since been moved to January 30, 2026. In December 2025, Deadline announced that the film would no longer receive a theatrical release, but instead would be available for streaming on Paramount+ starting October 9, 2026.

In response to the leak, animator Julia Schoel expressed her disappointment on X. She highlighted the dedication of the animators who worked hard on the film and criticized Paramount’s decision to remove the theatrical release.
