University of Nebraska Names Rhonda Revelle Field in Honor
Nebraska Athletics has officially named the softball field at Bowlin Stadium as Rhonda Revelle Field, celebrating the legacy of the esteemed head coach. This announcement was made by Athletic Director Troy Dannen during the ceremony following Nebraska’s impressive 13-0 win against Iowa. This game served as the regular-season home finale for the Huskers.
Rhonda Revelle’s Coaching Legacy
Rhonda Revelle has been at the helm of the Nebraska softball program for 34 seasons. Under her guidance, the Huskers have amassed over 1,200 victories, making her the winningest coach in the history of Nebraska athletics. Dannen praised Revelle, stating, “This is a most deserving honor for one of the truly great coaches and people in the history of college softball.”

Impact on the Program
Revelle’s influence on the Nebraska softball program is undeniable. She has participated in over 75 percent of the games since its inception, including every game played at Bowlin Stadium since its opening in 2002. Together with her long-time associate head coach, Lori Sippel, they have contributed to 90 percent of Nebraska’s all-time victories.
2019 Season Highlights
The Huskers concluded their regular season with an impressive record of 40-6, finishing 15-1 at home in Bowlin Stadium. This season also marked a historical milestone in attendance, with Nebraska averaging 2,610 fans per game—the highest in the school’s history.
As future Husker teams take to the field, they will do so in an arena honoring a coach who has significantly shaped Nebraska athletics and women’s softball on a national level.
