Diane Lavallée says she is in remission after breast cancer
Diane Lavallée says she is in very good shape and in remission after fighting breast cancer. The comédienne made the update Tuesday last week on the red carpet for Vitrerie Joyal, a public return after withdrawing from public life following her 2024 diagnosis.
“Ça va super bien ! Je suis en très bonne forme.” She said the line while attending the event to support Martin Matte, then added that she is happy to see work restart and that she will be back on stage in late 2026.
Détective numéro 1 and Mustang
Lavallée said she will appear in the comedy Détective numéro 1 and in the western-flavored series Mustang. On Détective numéro 1, she described a part she rarely gets to play: “Je joue un personnage que je n’ai pas souvent fait, c’est-à-dire une femme très disciplinée. Mais je ne peux pas en dire davantage.”
That mix of projects points to a return that is not just symbolic. After nearly two years out of the public sphere, she is moving back into screen work and stage work at the same time, with a play scheduled at La Licorne in November and December 2026.
La Licorne in 2026
“Je suis bien contente que ça reprenne” is how Lavallée put it when asked about getting back to work. Laurence Leboeuf later posted a photo of herself with her mother on social media, adding a family note to an appearance that had already done the main job: showing Lavallée healthy enough to return to the red carpet and to outline what comes next.
For readers following her career, the practical takeaway is simple: the 2024 break is over, and the calendar now includes screen roles plus a stage run at La Licorne in November and December 2026.
