Stockholms stad highlights 108 utegym and 264 open ball courts
Stockholm's outdoor exercise map got a fresh push on 28 April 2026, when Stockholms stad highlighted 108 utegym, 19 motionsspår and 264 öppna bollplaner across the city. The city said the offer also includes 2 käpphästbanor, 1 yogapaviljong and 42 skate- och parkourparker, alongside walking routes by water and in green areas.
Marina Högland, idrottsdirektör, said: "I Stockholms stad finns en mängd möjligheter för dig som vill träna eller kanske bara röra på dig lite lugnt". The city presented the list as warm weather and early summer approach, and said it is responsible for booking, operation and maintenance of 450 sports facilities.

Stockholms stad used the announcement to put the city's outdoor exercise network in one frame, from standard gyms in the open air to more specialized spaces such as käpphästbanor and a yogapaviljong.
The numbers matter because they show the range of sites the city is pointing residents toward: 108 utegym for strength work, 19 motionsspår for running, 264 open ball courts for ball sports and 42 skate- och parkourparker for wheeled and freestyle movement. Stockholms stad said there are also walking routes along water and in green areas, giving people more than one way to use the city's public sports infrastructure without booking an indoor hall.
450 sports facilities
The announcement also placed the outdoor offer inside the city's wider responsibility for 450 idrottsanläggningar. That means the press release was not just a list of places to train; it was a snapshot of the municipal system that books, operates and maintains them. For residents choosing where to move, the practical takeaway is simple: Stockholm says the city already has a broad network of public exercise spaces, and the list ranges from organized training sites to open routes through water and green areas.
The press release sat alongside other Stockholm city items, including ten finalists for Årets Stockholmsbyggnad 2026 with voting open until 24 May, a groundbreaking for a new athletics and football hall at Enskede idrottsplats scheduled for Wednesday 6 May at 14.00, and Yrkes-SM in Stockholm from 4–6 May with about 250 young people expected. Those separate announcements did not change the outdoor exercise message, but they show how much of the city's calendar was moving at once.

For anyone deciding where to train, the clearest next step is to use the city's own outdoor network: utegym, motionsspår, open ball courts, skate parks, walking routes and the other listed sites. Stockholm's message is that exercise is already spread across the city, and the scale of that offer is what gives the announcement its practical edge for residents looking for the closest available place to move.
