Dakota Sweeney Arrested in West Wilson Family Murder Case

west wilson’s family was pulled into a homicide case after Dakota Sweeney was arrested on April 22 and charged on April 23 in the killing of Gayle R. Wilson, 75. The Carrollton Missouri Police Department made the arrest, and Sweeney is being held at Caldwell County Jail on a no-bond warrant.

Gayle R. Wilson was West Wilson’s grandmother and Dakota Sweeney’s grandmother. Her obituary said she died on April 22 at her residence and described her as someone who “lived a life marked by creativity, kindness, and cherished moments.”

Carroll County shooting

The Missouri State Highway Patrol said Carroll County law enforcement officials responded at 10:25 p.m. last Wednesday to a shooting at a residence and found a female dead inside. A witness on the scene allegedly identified a male suspect, who was taken into custody without incident.

Sweeney now faces first degree murder and armed criminal action. Those charges move the case from an emergency response into a homicide prosecution, with the state’s Division of Drug and Crime Control handling the investigation.

Gayle R. Wilson

Gayle’s obituary lists surviving family members including her husband Roger, four children, and seven grandchildren. The family connection is why the case drew added attention: West Wilson was 31 when the reunion was filmed in New York City, and the killing happened the night before he filmed the Summer House Season 10 reunion.

For the family, the immediate fact is the arrest and the no-bond hold. For everyone else watching the case, the next development will come from the homicide investigation now underway in Missouri, not from the reunion footage that followed it.
