Ghirardelli recalls 2 mixes over possible Salmonella contamination — Product Recall
Ghirardelli Chocolate Company issued a product recall on April 27, 2026 for two powdered beverage mixes after identifying a possible Salmonella contamination risk. The San Leandro, California company said no illnesses had been reported to date.
The recall covers 6/3lb Chocolate & Cocoa Sweet Ground Powder and 6/3.12lb White Chocolate Flavored Sweet Ground Powder. Ghirardelli said consumers who bought either mix can contact the company at 1-844-776-0419 or Ghirardelli Chocolate Company Consumer Services at 855-744-1426.
San Leandro recall notice
Ghirardelli said the recalled mixes were packaged in large formats intended for food service and institutional customers. The company added that some of the powdered beverage mixes may also have been available to consumers through e-commerce platforms.
The recall followed a California Dairies, Inc. milk powder recall tied to concern about potential Salmonella contamination. Ghirardelli said the milk powder had been supplied to a third-party manufacturer and used as an ingredient in powdered beverage mixes before the company pulled its products.
Two Ghirardelli products
The affected products are limited to two items: 6/3lb Chocolate & Cocoa Sweet Ground Powder and 6/3.12lb White Chocolate Flavored Sweet Ground Powder. That leaves the recall narrow in product count, but broad in where the mixes may have reached buyers, since the company said the packaging was aimed at institutions and food service.
Salmonella can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Anyone who purchased one of the recalled mixes has the company’s contact numbers for follow-up on the affected product.
