Authorities clear 450 cubic meters on Mosquera-La Mesa corridor

Authorities activated a Puesto de Mando Unificado to restore the mosquera-La Mesa corridor after red alert was declared in La Mesa. Crews in the Curubital sector removed about 450 cubic meters of mud and rock while more than 13 families were affected by the emergency.

The Governor's Office said the remaining material should be cleared within a maximum of 24 hours to reopen the road. The same emergency caused a total suspension of the water supply service in La Mesa after damage to the water intake structures.

La Mesa red alert

The red alert followed a regional risk management council after intense rains caused serious damage to infrastructure in Cundinamarca. Authorities said specialized teams were working on the intake infrastructure so service could be restored as soon as possible.

Flooding, landslides and road blockages were persisting in provinces such as Sumapaz and Tequendama, with at least 35 critical points being addressed across the department. The alcantarillado system in La Calera also suffered considerable damage, extending the response beyond the corridor between Mosquera and La Mesa.

Curubital cleanup

In Curubital, the removal of 450 cubic meters of mud and rock was the first visible step toward reopening the road. Authorities urged the community to avoid risk areas and follow recommendations while crews continued work on the corridor and the damaged water system.

For residents and travelers on this route, the immediate issue is access: the corridor remains under repair while the water outage continues in La Mesa. The next operational benchmark is the clearance of the remaining material within the 24-hour target set by the Governor's Office.
