Billericay Town Fc Beat Chatham Town 3-2 to Reach Monday Final
Billericay Town Fc beat Chatham Town 3-2 at New Lodge and moved into Monday's play-off final. The result kept Billericay in the promotion race after a 42-game Isthmian Premier Division season and ended Chatham's hopes for another year.
Jon Benton Opens the Scoring
Jon Benton put Billericay ahead in the 12th minute with a shot past Nathan Harvey. That early goal gave the home side control before they widened the gap with two more first-half strikes.
Frankie Merrifield headed in the second from Jack Evans' free-kick, and Keon Lewis-Burgess made it 3-0 with 40 minutes played. Billericay had already beaten Chatham twice in the league season, and they used that edge again when the play-off tie tightened later on.
Chatham Town Push Back
Sam Sene-Richardson pulled one back before half-time, then Kian Moynes cut the deficit again after the restart. Chatham found a way back into the match, but Billericay still carried the lead into the closing stages.
Nile Ranger had a late header cleared off the line, and Nathan Harvey denied Merrifield early in the second half. Referee Fabio Roque also waved away penalty appeals when Kasim Aidoo went down in the box, leaving Chatham short of the final moment they needed to force the tie further.
New Lodge Decides It
Kevin Hake's side fell short after finishing three points behind Billericay in the league table. The margin from the 42-game season showed how little separated the two clubs before this match, but Billericay handled the decisive one by turning a 3-0 lead into a 3-2 win and booking Monday's final.
