Angel Reese Returns to Chicago for Dream Debut — Wnba Games Today
Angel Reese makes her Atlanta Dream preseason debut Wednesday night against the Chicago Sky in Chicago, and wnba games today puts her back in the building where her WNBA career started. The two-time WNBA All-Star said there is no bad blood after Chicago traded her earlier this month.
Reese Faces the Sky
Reese spent her first two WNBA seasons with Chicago after the Sky selected her in the first round of the 2024 draft. Now she steps onto the floor for Atlanta in the same city, against the team that drafted her and then moved her in a reset earlier this month.
She answered the return question directly. “No. Just another exciting opportunity for me to be in Chicago. I love my experience in Chicago.” She added, “It was amazing. Seeing a lot of familiar faces on Wednesday is gonna be good to see.”
Atlanta Dream Expectations
The setting is different because Atlanta is coming off a 30-14 season, while Chicago finished 10-34 and missed the playoffs for the second-straight year. Reese pointed to that contrast when explaining why she wanted the move, saying, “I watched them from afar last year and then being able to see the success, that’s the reason why I wanted to be able to come here, because I thought I can help them in ways, and they can help me in ways.”
She also made clear she sees room for more. “There’s no ceiling,” Reese said of the Dream, then added, “I think there’s just so much more that we can do.”
Chicago Reunion Night
Reese’s comments suggest the first game in a Dream uniform is about more than a preseason runout. She called the group hungry, saying, “They weren’t satisfied.”
That is the part that gives Wednesday night its edge: a player Chicago developed, then traded, now returns with Atlanta carrying a different ceiling and a different roster around her. Reese summed up the fit this way: “Everybody’s really hungry in their own personal ways, but then coming together as a team and all (having) one goal is really important for us.”
