Penguins Beat Flyers 3-2 in Game 5 to Extend Playoffs Nhl — Playoffs Nhl

The Pittsburgh Penguins beat the Philadelphia Flyers 3-2 in Game 5 on Monday night in playoffs nhl, turning a 3-0 series hole into a live series again. Pittsburgh had been one loss from elimination, but the win sends the matchup back to Philadelphia for Game 6 on Wednesday night.

Sidney Crosby Sparks Pittsburgh

Sidney Crosby had two assists, and Pittsburgh got goals from Elmer Soderblom, Connor Dewar and Kris Letang. Soderblom opened the scoring with his first-ever NHL postseason goal on the Penguins' first shot on goal, giving Pittsburgh the start it needed after falling behind 3-0 in the series.

Dewar scored in the second period, then Alex Bump answered 12 seconds later with his first playoff goal. Travis Sanheim later tied it at 2 in the second period, and Letang's shot bounced off the glass, off Dan Vladar's leg and into the Flyers' net for the winner.

Silovs And Vladar

Arturs Silovs made 18 saves for Pittsburgh, and Vladar stopped 18 shots for Philadelphia. The Penguins outshot the Flyers 21-20, and both teams finished 0-for-2 on the power play. That left the game to be decided at even strength, with each goalie matching the other save for save until Letang's bounce turned the final goal.

The Flyers still return home with a 3-2 series lead and Game 6 on Wednesday night, while Pittsburgh has already forced the matchup to continue after avoiding elimination on Monday and then again taking Game 5. The Stanley Cup Playoffs will keep trimming the field, but this series now shifts back to Philadelphia with the Penguins needing one more road win to extend it further.
