Crosby also won 12 of 20 faceoffs, a clean edge in a one-goal game that stayed tight through the final period. Pittsburgh held a 3-2 lead for the entire last frame and never let Philadelphia find the equalizer.

Arturs Silovs backed it with 18 saves on 20 shots. That gave the Penguins enough margin to protect the lead after Crosby had already set the table twice.

The home crowd was part of the finish. Crosby said, "I think it’s huge," and added, "We definitely feed off of that. We feel that." Bryan Rust said, "They (the crowd) were unbelievable," and followed with, "They helped push us. I think that also kind of hurt them (the Flyers), or whatnot."

Rust added, "It definitely gave us a boost." That boost came in a building where the Penguins needed every bit of energy to keep the Flyers from tying the game.

Pittsburgh Still Chasing Three

The win leaves Pittsburgh two wins away from taking the series after falling 3-0 down. Only four teams in NHL history have climbed out of a 3-0 deficit, so the Penguins are chasing a comeback that has almost never happened.

It also extended the run of Crosby, Evgeni Malkin and Kris Letang, who have now spent 20 seasons together. Letang stayed at his locker after the victory and was preparing for the next game, while the group kept the pressure on a series that has turned far more competitive than it looked early.
