Cam York Sends Flyers Past Penguins 4-2 in Nhl Playoff Bracket
Cam York scored late in overtime to push the Philadelphia Flyers past the Pittsburgh Penguins 1-0 on Wednesday, and the series ended 4-2 in the nhl playoff bracket. Philadelphia needed just one goal after 60 scoreless minutes to finish the first-round set and move on.
York Ends It for Philadelphia
The Flyers got the decisive breakthrough in overtime after neither side scored through regulation. York finished the game late in the extra period, turning a tight playoff game into the result that ended Pittsburgh's season.
Anthony Mantha had a close shot at the 10-minute mark of overtime, but a swarm of Flyers blocked the Penguins from scoring on the deflection chance. That was the closest Pittsburgh came before York's winner settled the game.
Flyers Finish the Series
The 1-0 win gave Philadelphia the series 4-2 and closed out a first-round matchup that had stayed tight long enough to reach overtime in Game 6. The Flyers did not need multiple goals or a long rally; one clean finish was enough to decide the round.
The result also drops the Penguins out after six games, while Philadelphia keeps moving through the bracket. With several other first-round series still active, Wednesday's finish fit into a playoff slate that had multiple elimination lines hanging over the next few days.
Other Series Tighten Up
Montreal added to the night by beating Tampa Bay 3-2 and taking a 3-2 series lead. The Canadiens will look to close out that series on Friday, keeping another first-round matchup on the edge of elimination.
Elsewhere, the Dallas Stars played the Minnesota Wild on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. ET with Minnesota leading 3-2, while the Utah Mammoth visited the Vegas Golden Knights at 10 p.m. ET in a series tied 2-2. The Edmonton Oilers also played the Anaheim Ducks at 10 p.m. ET, with Anaheim leading that series 3-2.
