Scott Parker Leaves Burnley Eight Days After Relegation
Scott Parker has left Burnley by mutual consent eight days after the club’s relegation from the Premier League. Mike Jackson will take charge for Burnley’s final four league games, starting with Friday’s trip to Leeds United.
Burnley After 22 April
Parker departs after Burnley were beaten 1-0 by Manchester City on 22 April, a result that sent them back into the Championship for the second time in three years. The club have won just four of their 34 league games this season and have taken only one point from their past eight matches.
That run sits alongside exits from both domestic cups. Burnley were knocked out of the FA Cup by Mansfield and the Carabao Cup by Cardiff, leaving the season without a route to recover momentum once relegation became certain.
Mike Jackson Takes Over
Parker took charge in July 2024 on a three-year contract and led Burnley back to the Premier League at the first attempt with a second-place finish in the Championship. His spell ended before the last four league games, with Jackson now responsible for seeing the season through.
“It has been an immense privilege to lead this great club over the past two years,” Parker said after leaving. He added: “I have enjoyed every moment of our journey together, but feel that now is the right time for both parties to move in a different direction.”
He also said: “I reflect back with great pride on what we achieved during my time at the club, especially our unforgettable promotion season in 2024-25, and it was a true honour to lead this team into the Premier League.”
