Charlotte Weather: Cold Front Brings Spotty Showers, 76 Tuesday

charlotte weather turned unsettled Wednesday evening as an approaching cold front brought a few spotty showers and storms to the area. A second disturbance could add a few more showers Thursday morning, mainly from Charlotte south and east into South Carolina.

Thursday Morning Rain

Tonight’s forecast called for a lingering shower or storm early, with more rain possible by early morning in spots and a low of 59. Thursday’s morning showers should move through quickly, leaving the afternoon drier with sun and clouds and a high of 76.

That leaves the Charlotte area with a short window of rain before conditions improve. The best chance of morning rain will be south and east of Charlotte, while the afternoon should offer pleasant temperatures in the mid 70s.

Charlotte Friday And Saturday

Friday is looking dry, giving the region a break before the pattern changes again Saturday. A warm front and low pressure south of the area are expected to bring more widespread rain from Saturday morning through the afternoon, with some areas seeing up to an inch of rain.

Wednesday morning had already missed out on beneficial rain in many neighborhoods, so the wetting rain later in the week comes after a dry stretch. Saturday also turns cooler, with lows in the low 60s.

Weekend Temperature Shift

Sunday should stay near 70, but freezing temperatures are possible in the mountains Sunday morning. Temperatures then are expected to warm to around 80 degrees again early next week.

For Charlotte-area readers, the practical takeaway is simple: expect a quick shot of rain Thursday morning, a dry Friday, then a wetter Saturday before the region turns milder again early next week.
