West Palm Beach police close Parker Avenue area over unattended vehicle
West palm beach police are investigating an unattended vehicle in the 1000 block of Parker Avenue and have closed the area out of caution on Thursday morning. Drivers were told to avoid Okeechobee Boulevard at Parker Avenue while officers sweep the vehicle.
Parker Avenue Closure
The Police Department said it is sweeping the vehicle out of an abundance of caution. The closure was disrupting traffic flow near the intersection, where drivers were redirected away from the block while police handled the scene.
West Palm Beach Detours
For drivers headed south of Okeechobee Boulevard, officials suggested Belvedere Road or Southern Boulevard. For drivers headed north of Okeechobee Boulevard, they suggested Palm Beach Lakes Boulevard. Those routes are the practical options for anyone trying to get around the blocked stretch near Parker Avenue.
Renter Located
Police said the renter of the vehicle was located and is on their way to the vehicle. The department has not released information about the closure beyond the cautionary sweep, leaving the immediate focus on the blocked roadway and the detours now carrying traffic.
