Gerwyn Price Set for 2026 UK Open Pool Championship Run

gerwyn price will compete in the 2026 UK Open Pool Championship at the Brentwood Centre from May 26-31, even though the event overlaps with the Premier League Darts Play-Offs on May 28. He has taken a wild card and said he intends to use it. Price is still in contention for the darts play-off night at The O2 in London.

Brentwood Centre and The O2

The pool field will be large. The UK Open Pool Championship will bring together 256 competitors from more than 50 countries and carries a £167,500 prize fund, making it a serious event rather than a one-off appearance for a darts player testing another game.

Price has already shown interest in nine-ball pool. He played at last year's Mosconi Cup and also competed in an exhibition Pro-Am event at Alexandra Palace, where he teamed with Milan Patel and hit the winning shot against Ade Oladipo and Hugo Boyle.

Price’s scheduling overlap

The collision comes on Thursday May 28, when the Premier League Darts Play-Offs are set for The O2. Price said he hopes to reach that night first, then split his time if both commitments remain alive.

He laid out the sequence himself: if he makes the play-offs, he believes he could play pool on the Tuesday, stay in the double-elimination bracket for a couple of days, break off for the darts on Thursday, and return to pool on Friday and Saturday.

Price did not talk like a player treating the pool entry as a novelty. He said, “I’m in it to win it. I wouldn’t turn up if I didn’t think I could win. I’m half decent! They’re good players but I’m there to win.”

The PDC said he does not need any special dispensation to enter, and that PDC players are free to take part in non-darts events outside their playing commitments. That leaves Price with both tracks open: the pool tournament he has accepted and the darts place he is still chasing.
