Six Flags New England Malfunction Sends Riders Down 208-Foot Coaster
Six flags new england malfunction forced riders off Superman: The Ride after the coaster stalled at its highest point on Friday, April 24, at the Agawam, Massachusetts park. A car filled with riders reached the top before the ride stopped mid-course, leaving passengers stranded in the air.
Staff guided riders down a steep staircase along the edge of the coaster’s towering structure. Superman: The Ride reaches 208 feet, runs 5,400 feet, and moves at 77 miles per hour over a 90-second ride.

The evacuation came at a park that describes Superman: The Ride as aimed at “ultimate thrill seekers.” The ride’s height and speed give a sense of why the stalled car drew immediate staff action at Six Flags New England.
That same park opened the Quantum Accelerator earlier in April, adding its 12th roller coaster. The new ride officially opened to the public on Friday, April 17, and the park described it as the first dual-launch straddle coaster in New England.
Quantum Accelerator Opening
The Quantum Accelerator launches riders from 0 to 30 miles per hour at the start and then at 45 miles per hour for the rest of the ride. It also features 11 moments of airtime, making the park’s recent ride rollout a sharp contrast with the April 24 evacuation on Superman: The Ride.
For riders on Superman, the practical outcome was simple: they had to leave the train on foot rather than continue the circuit. For the park, the incident put its newest opening and one of its tallest coasters in the same month on opposite ends of the guest experience.
