James Cook Graduates From Georgia Ahead of May 8 Ceremony

james cook has graduated from the University of Georgia and will take part in the ceremony on May 8. The Buffalo Bills running back made the announcement on Wednesday, adding a personal milestone to a career that already includes a league-leading rushing season.

Cook’s Georgia run

Cook spent four seasons at Georgia and played 50 games there, finishing with 1,503 rushing yards and 14 scores. He also helped the Bulldogs win the 2021 National Championship, a title run that closed out his college career before he entered the 2022 NFL Draft.

That timeline gives the graduation news a neat bookend. Cook left school for the NFL, but the degree arrives after he has already built the professional résumé that made him one of the top running backs in the league.

Bills production since 2022

Since joining the Bills, Cook has played 66 games and piled up 4,259 rushing yards. His most recent season was his best to date, with 1,621 rushing yards to lead the league.

He has matched that production with availability. Cook has been on the field enough to become a central part of Buffalo’s offense, and the graduation announcement lands while the Bills are trying to keep the roster moving forward around him.

Buffalo’s draft turnover

The Bills wrapped up the 2026 NFL Draft by bringing in 10 new players after trading back three times in the first round. They did not pick until the start of the second round, then added Clemson pass rusher T.J. Parker and Ohio State cornerback Davison Igbinosun.

That draft haul came with outside scrutiny. analyst Mel Kiper Jr. gave Buffalo a B- and noted that the team moved back from No. 26 to No. 28, No. 31, No. 35 and eventually No. 91 before getting back on the board. Cook’s graduation arrives against that backdrop: a veteran core trying to keep the Bills in place while the team keeps restocking around it.
