Police update Milton Keynes on Greenleys Lane death, Wolverton arrests
Thames Valley Police updated milton keynes on two separate incidents yesterday, including the death of a 19-year-old man found in a car at around 1.30pm in Greenleys Lane, Greenleys. Officers later dealt with a weapons report in Wolverton, where four boys were arrested after armed police and the National Police Air Service attended.
Greenleys Lane death
A police spokesperson said: "A 19-year-old man was sadly found dead in a car at around 1.30pm". The force is preparing a file for the coroner after describing the death as unexplained but non-suspicious, and officers informed his next of kin and offered support.
The road in Greenleys was closed for police inquiries and has since reopened. Thames Valley Police said the death was not connected to the incident in Wolverton later the same day, separating the two responses in a single afternoon in different parts of the town.
McConnell Drive arrests
At around 5.20pm, officers were called to McConnell Drive, near McDonald’s and Tesco in Wolverton, after reports of a group of men with weapons. Armed officers attended with support from the National Police Air Service, and police recovered and seized a knife.
A 16-year-old boy from Milton Keynes was arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon in a public place. A 17-year-old boy from Milton Keynes and two 15-year-old boys from Milton Keynes were arrested on suspicion of possession of a knife in a public place.
The 16-year-old boy and both 15-year-old boys were released from police custody on conditional bail, while the 17-year-old boy remained in custody today. Police said: "We recognise that the presence of armed police and the helicopter may have been concerning for those in the area, but we would like to reassure the community that four individuals are now in custody and there is no ongoing risk to the public".
Police presence in Wolverton
Thames Valley Police also said: "You might see an increased police presence in the area while inquiries are ongoing." For people in Wolverton, that means the scene has moved past the immediate armed response, but officers are still working through inquiries around McConnell Drive after the arrests and seizure.
