Mika Godts Wins Third Johan Cruijff Talent of the Month Award
mika godts picked up the Johan Cruijff Talent van de Maand award for April, his third such honor this season. The Ajax attacker was recognized after another month built on direct goal contributions, pushing his season total to the top of the VriendenLoterij Eredivisie chart.
April For Godts
The twenty-year-old finished April with four goal involvements: an assist in Ajax's 1-2 loss to FC Twente, a goal in the 0-3 win over Heracles Almelo, and both a goal and an assist in the 0-2 win over NAC Breda. That run is what earned him the monthly award again.
He has now been directly involved in 27 goals this season, with 16 goals and 11 assists. No player in the VriendenLoterij Eredivisie has more goal involvements, and his month also included 18 ball contacts in the opponent's penalty area, eight chances created from open play and 11 successful dribbles.
Ajax And Opta
The award is based on Opta statistics and uses more than sixty different numbers in the selection process. Godts also leads the league in dribbles and successful dribbles, with 164 attempts and 79 completed, so the monthly prize tracked the same profile that has defined his season for Ajax.
This was not his first time on the list. He had already won in November and February, and in both of those months he was directly involved in exactly four goals. April simply extended the pattern: the same output, the same award, and a wider gap between him and the rest of the league in total attacking production.
