Drake Lindsey Arrested on Minor in Possession, Fake ID Charges

Gophers React to Lindsey

A Gophers spokesperson said, "We are aware of the situation and will address it internally." Lindsey is due in court on June 1 on the pending charges, leaving the program to handle the issue while its starting quarterback faces the legal process.

Arkansas Charges and Bond

The arrest came from the Fayetteville Police Department and was recorded by the Washington County Sheriff's Office in Arkansas. Lindsey was booked on allegations that he had alcohol as a minor and carried a fake ID, then left custody the same morning after bond was set.

He is 20 years old and will turn 21 on Aug. 18. That detail sits in the middle of a season where he enters his redshirt sophomore year as the unquestioned starting quarterback for Minnesota.

Lindsey's Arkansas Background

Lindsey grew up in Fayetteville and attended Fayetteville High School, where he led an undefeated season and a state championship as a senior. He threw for 3,941 yards with 54 touchdowns and three interceptions that year and was named the Arkansas Gatorade Player of the Year.

The on-field expectations were already high before Friday's arrest. Last Saturday in the spring game, he completed 4-of-5 passes for 89 yards and hit Noah Jennings for a 74-yard connection on his first attempt, a reminder of why Minnesota has handed him the offense heading into 2026.

Nate Tice ranked Lindsey No. 24 on his 2027 NFL Draft big board, another sign of how closely his development is being watched. Now the Gophers have to move through June 1 with their starting quarterback facing pending charges and an internal response already set in motion.
