Rodney Brown Jr. Pledges Lmu Transfer to Seton Hall
lmu transfer guard Rodney Brown Jr. pledged to Seton Hall on Thursday, giving Shaheen Holloway another shooter for a roster built around perimeter production. The 6-foot-6 guard arrives after a season at Loyola Marymount in which he scored efficiently and made 23 of 58 three-point attempts.
Brown averaged 14.0 points, 2.4 rebounds and 1.7 assists while shooting 43% from the field and 38% from deep. At Virginia Tech, he had already shown range as a sophomore by hitting 42% from three.
Holloway’s shooting priority
Seton Hall has made the guard’s shot a clear target. Holloway said after the season, “My priority is going to be shooting the basketball,” and added, “Get some shooters, just bring guys in that fit me and fit the program, but definitely shooting is going to be a big priority.”
Brown fits that plan cleanly. He arrives as a transfer with a recent scoring role and a track record from long range, which makes him more than just another name in the portal. Seton Hall also added G League forward Nathan Mariano, Texas transfer guard Simeon Wilcher, Radford transfer guard Del Jones, Xavier transfer guard Roddie Anderson, Dartmouth transfer Kareem Thomas and four-star high school guard Darien Moore.
Kareem Thomas joins the group
Thomas brings the most recent statistical edge among the other additions, averaging 15.9 points, 3.0 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game last year while shooting 44.7% from 3. That gives Seton Hall a second proven perimeter scoring option in the same batch of additions, alongside Brown’s 14.0 points per game at Loyola Marymount.
For Holloway, the move signals a clear roster direction. Brown adds size, shooting and production at a position that drives the offense, while the wider set of transfers and the addition of Darien Moore show Seton Hall is not waiting to rebuild its perimeter scoring one piece at a time.
