Dk Metcalf Will Not Face Charges After Ford Field Altercation

dk metcalf will not face charges after the Ford Field altercation with Detroit Lions season ticket holder Ryan Kennedy. Wayne County prosecutors said on May 1 that the criminal case tied to the December incident will not move forward, closing one legal track while Kennedy’s civil lawsuit remains separate.

Ford Field and Kennedy

The incident unfolded on Dec. 21, 2025, during a game at Ford Field in Detroit. Kennedy had left his seat holding a Metcalf jersey and was moving toward the front railing for an autograph when he said something to Metcalf, leading to a brief interaction before Metcalf threw his hand toward Kennedy’s face.

Kennedy later claimed he was assaulted by Metcalf and filed suit on Feb. 3 in Wayne County Circuit Court. His complaint named Metcalf, Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson, and multiple media companies, and it sought $100 million for defamation, negligence and other claims after he said he was falsely branded as a racist in the national media.

Wayne County decision

The prosecutor’s office said Kennedy did not appear to be injured and did not need to seek medical attention at the game. That finding sat at the center of the charging decision, and on May 1 the office said it had decided against issuing charges.

“After an extensive review of all the relevant evidence, the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office has determined that charges will not be issued in this case.”

“The warrant request is denied.”

The ruling leaves Kennedy’s civil lawsuit as the remaining legal dispute described in the case. For Metcalf, the May 1 decision ends the threat of criminal charges over the Ford Field incident, while the complaint filed in Wayne County Circuit Court continues on a separate track.
