Harry Judd Leads High School Musical London Transfer to 2026

Harry Judd will play Coach Bolton when high school musical opens in London at Troubadour Wembley Park Theatre on 12 October 2026. The transfer runs to 3 January 2027, giving the production a multi-month West End-style engagement after its summer stop in Salford.

Judd’s casting gives the run a recognisable name while the production stays anchored to its new London venue. He takes over the role from Jason Donovan, who appears in the Salford engagement, and the London press night is set for 20 October 2026.

Troubadour Wembley Park Theatre

Disney’s High School Musical is moving to London in autumn 2026 as the first UK non-replica staging of the musical. The production is presented by Hope Mill Theatre and Chris Harper Productions, which places it in a different commercial lane from a standard revival: this is being sold as a new staging, not a copy of the screen-to-stage template audiences already know.

The London engagement follows a summer run at the Lowry in Salford from 22 August to 19 September. That sequence gives the production a short regional launch before it shifts to a larger London house, a route that usually helps a show build momentum before the capital run begins.

Harry Judd as Coach Bolton

Judd said, “I’m absolutely thrilled to be joining this incredible new production of High School Musical.” He added, “It’s such an iconic film that meant so much to me growing up and now getting to share that same excitement with my own family – makes this even more special.”

He also said, “As a dad, it’s been amazing to revisit this story through my children’s eyes and see just how timeless it really is—the music, the energy, the message about believing in yourself – it all still resonates so strongly across generations.”

His role in London sits alongside Tobias Turley as Troy, Leonor Correia as Gabriella, Caitlin Tipping as Sharpay, Luke Bayer as Ryan and KayCee Stroh as Ms Darbus, with further casting still to be announced. Judd’s line about “leading such a first-class cast” points to the production’s current shape: enough names are in place to sell the transfer, but the company is not yet complete.

2006 to 2027

High School Musical premiered on stage in 2006 at Stagedoor Manor, then had its first professional production in Atlanta and a US national tour in 2007. It received its London premiere at the Hammersmith Apollo in 2008, so the 2026 transfer is not the title’s first London appearance, but it is being positioned as a different kind of UK staging.

“Stepping into the role of Coach Bolton and leading such a first-class cast in London at Troubadour Wembley Park Theatre is something I’m incredibly proud of,” Judd said. “I can’t wait to ‘Get My Head in the Game’ and bring this story to life on stage – sharing all the energy, heart and nostalgia of High School Musical with fans old and new.”

That is the right approach for this transfer: a familiar title, a fresh production model and a cast still being built around a limited run that ends on 3 January 2027. The remaining casting announcement is the last major piece before London audiences get the show in full.
