David Pastrnak Sends Boston Bruins Into Game 6 At TD Garden
David Pastrnak scored in overtime in Buffalo on Tuesday, and the boston bruins will take that goal into Game 6 at TD Garden on Friday. Boston is one loss from elimination in the Eastern Conference First Round, while Buffalo gets another chance to close the series after winning twice in Boston.
Pastrnak Sets Up TD Garden
Pastrnak asked Bruins fans to meet the moment. “Just be loud, please, and be patient,” he said after Game 5, adding, “We’re going to shoot the puck, don’t worry.”
The Bruins needed that message after a 6-1 defeat in Game 4 at home, a game they trailed 4-0 before it got away. Nikita Zadorov did not soften that night’s performance. “We owe them one for sure, at least,” he said ahead of Game 6, and he called it “embarrassing effort in Game 4.”
Buffalo’s Road Edge
Buffalo’s path back to Boston is built on its work in this series. The Sabres have already won twice in Boston and outscored the Bruins 9-2 in those games, which leaves the home ice edge at TD Garden under pressure.
The Sabres also carried a power-play drought into Game 5. They were 0-for-39 before Rasmus Dahlin scored at 3:35 of the first period on the man advantage, and the goal came after a stretch that had lasted back to April 2.
Lindy Ruff’s Game 5 Read
Lindy Ruff left Game 5 seeing a tighter contest than the scoreline might suggest. “We were right there,” he said, and added, “Our game is in a good place.”
That leaves Friday’s matchup with one clear edge for Boston and one clear problem. The Bruins have the chance to keep their season alive at TD Garden, but Buffalo has already shown in this series that it can win in that building and put the pressure back on the home side fast.
