Ali Turiano says Severe Flood Risk eases after Friday rain in Metroplex

Ali Turiano said the Metroplex faces one more rainy day Friday, with severe flood risk tied to widespread rain across much of the region. The heaviest totals are likely south of the Metroplex, and the final disturbance is expected to head east Friday night.

Temperatures are expected to stay in the 50s to near 60 degrees Friday. Some storms could produce lightning, heavy rain and small hail, but severe weather is not anticipated.

Friday Rain Across North Texas

Turiano’s forecast points to a wet finish to the week before the weekend clears out. Widespread rain is expected Friday, and areas with poor drainage will face the most practical concern when downpours stack up.

“Turn around, don’t drown!”

The rain is expected to taper as the disturbance moves east Friday night. Drier air is then expected to arrive Saturday morning, giving the region a break after a stormy, wet stretch.

Weekend Weather in Dallas-Fort Worth

Saturday is expected to turn sunny with a high in the lower 70s. Sunday should stay sunny as well, with highs in the mid-to-upper 70s.

Clouds and low rain chances are expected to return early next week. Temperatures are then expected to rise above average by Tuesday, with highs in the 80s through the midweek.

For North Texas readers, the near-term answer is simple: get through Friday’s rain, then expect a warmer, drier weekend before another round of clouds early next week.
