Rakesh Singh Visits Jabalpur Boat Accident Site After 9 Die
A viral video from the jabalpur boat accident in Madhya Pradesh’s Jabalpur showed a mother clutching her four-year-old son moments before the cruise overturned in the Bargi dam reservoir on Thursday evening. The boat later capsized after strong winds and a sudden storm made the water rough, killing nine people.
Rescuers later recovered the mother and son hours after the sinking, and their bodies were still wrapped together in the same life jacket. By the time of the report, 22 people had been rescued from the cruise, which was carrying around 30 passengers.

Rakesh Singh, the Madhya Pradesh Cabinet Minister, visited the site and was visibly moved, and could not hold back his tears. His visit came as search operations continued for those still missing in the reservoir.
Officials said strong winds lashed the reservoir around 6 pm on Thursday, turning the waters rough and making the boat unstable. Eyewitnesses said passengers repeatedly urged the crew to return to shore as conditions worsened, but the boat drifted further into the reservoir before it overturned.
Searches in Jabalpur Continue
Teams from the SDRF, local police and district administration remained engaged in rescue efforts around the clock. Chief Minister Mohan Yadav said the state government was extending all possible support to affected families and continuing efforts to locate the missing.
The video has drawn attention to the final minutes before the capsizing, but the response now centers on finding those still missing and bringing the rescued passengers to safety. The recovery of the mother and son together in one life jacket leaves the clearest record of how quickly the situation changed on the water.
