Peterborough Vs Doncaster: Luke Williams Keeps Changes Minimal for 3pm Finale
Peterborough vs Doncaster lands on Saturday afternoon at 3pm with Peterborough United hosting Doncaster Rovers in the final Sky Bet League One match of the 2025-2026 season. Both clubs are already safe, but Peterborough still have departures, injuries and a final home crowd to manage.
Weston Homes Stadium finale
Luke Williams said his starting line-up will not include too many changes, and he used the occasion to praise the loan players heading out when the season ends. Jimmy-Jay Morgan will return to his parent club after his loan spell ends, while Peter Kioso will do the same.
Archie Collins is set to depart in the summer and may feature in his final game for the club if selected. Peterborough secured their safety on Tuesday night with a point against Mansfield Town, so the pressure around the table has already been lifted before this meeting with Doncaster.
Williams, Morgan and Kioso
Williams set out the tone plainly: “We want to finish the season with a performance that the fans enjoy because over the last few months, it is fair to say there have not been too many occasions where that has happened. Hopefully, with the pressure off, we can play free-flowing football and provide some entertainment. I want to thank the loan players for their contributions. Jimmy-Jay Morgan has scored a lot of goals; he has been a pleasure to work with, and I hope he goes on to have an excellent career. Peter Kioso has played in a couple of positions and has put his body on the line, and when he has played as a centre back, he has often done so with different partners,”
That frame gives Peterborough a clearer final-day picture than most teams still juggling stakes. Sam Hughes, Rio Adebisi and Carl Johnston will not feature because of injury, so the matchday group is already trimmed before selection begins.
Grant McCann’s young Rovers
Doncaster could go younger as a host of their players were made available for transfer this week. Bayley McCann may be among the names to watch. He is the son of Doncaster manager Grant McCann, previously played in the Posh Academy, and had a spell with Barnsley that included a loan stint with Alfreton before recently joining Doncaster Rovers’ first-team squad.
The away section of the Kings Power Solutions Stand is sold out, with Doncaster supporters taking their place inside the Weston Homes Stadium while Peterborough fans are being directed to the GH Display Stand. The club also said bag and person searches will be increased after the UK government raised the national terror threat level from substantial to severe, and there is limited parking in the Fair Meadow Car Park because of replacement bus travel for Network Rail and potential usage.
Players will thank supporters immediately after the final whistle, which gives this season finale a clean ending for both sets of fans. Peterborough enter it safe, Doncaster enter it with room to test youngsters, and the last league game of the campaign is set up as one more chance for selection decisions to say as much as the scoreline.
