Police probe Brixton Shooting after 25-year-old man critically injured

Police are investigating a brixton shooting in which four people were taken to hospital after multiple shots were fired from a vehicle in Brixton, south London, in the early hours of Saturday. A 25-year-old man is in a life-threatening condition, and three others aged 21, 47 and 70 were also injured.

Det Ch Insp Allam Bhangoo called the incident an "act of indiscriminate violence" and said officers are working to identify those responsible. Police arrived on Coldharbour Lane within minutes after reports of the shooting, and the London Ambulance Service treated four patients at the scene.

Coldharbour Lane response

The ambulance service said: "We treated four patients at the scene. We took two of them to a major trauma centre and the other two patients to a local hospital." Two patients went to a major trauma centre, while the other two were taken to a local hospital.

Police said no arrests have been made and the investigation is continuing. Officers asked anyone with information about the incident to come forward.

Allam Bhangoo statement

Det Ch Insp Bhangoo said: "We understand how concerning this incident will be for the local community and want to reassure residents that officers are working at pace to identify those responsible". Police also said there will be an increased police presence in the area over the coming days.

For residents and people who use Coldharbour Lane, the immediate change is a larger police presence while detectives continue to trace who opened fire from the vehicle. The shooting left four people in hospital and a neighbourhood waiting for answers from an investigation that has not yet led to any arrests.
