Howe Says Newcastle Score Must Beat Brighton After Owners Meeting — Newcastle Score

newcastle score need a win against Brighton on Saturday, Eddie Howe said after meeting the club’s Saudi owners on Thursday. The Newcastle manager said there is “a lot riding on this weekend for us,” with the team on five straight defeats and eight points above the relegation zone.

Howe described the annual review at Matfen Hall Hotel in Northumberland as constructive. Yasir al-Rumayyan headed a 25-strong delegation from Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund, and Howe said he was pleased by the support while making clear that results still drive the conversation.

The meeting came with pressure building around Newcastle’s form. Howe said there were challenging conversations and difficult questions during the session, but he left with the same message he has been giving about the club’s direction. “It was constructive,” he said, adding: “I was pleased by the level of support given to me but, of course, there’s an understanding that we need to get results.”

That balance matters because Newcastle had lost nine of their past 12 Premier League games before Brighton visited St James’ Park. Howe’s own position sits inside that run of results, and he said he has to retain confidence that he will be Newcastle’s manager next season. The immediate demand is simpler: beat Brighton and stop the slide.

Howe was direct about the owners’ ambitions. “The desire is unchanged,” he said. “It’s to get to the top of the Premier League, to try to win as many trophies as possible.” He added: “I don’t think that will change while the PIF are our majority owners.”

He also pointed to the longer horizon at the club. “The long-term vision is clearly there,” he said, while backing better recruitment and saying he wants the best players at the lowest cost. For Saturday, though, the target is immediate and narrow: Newcastle need a result that can steady both the table and the discussion around the manager.
