Exeter, Leyton Orient Face Efl League One Games Survival Test

Saturday’s efl league one games bring a split-screen finish to the 2025/26 League One campaign, with playoff places still open and Exeter City and Leyton Orient both fighting to stay up. Six clubs still have a route into the top six, but only four of those six clubs will get through by the end of the day.

Exeter And Leyton Orient

Exeter need a win against playoff-chasing Bradford, plus favourable results elsewhere, to avoid the drop. Leyton Orient need a point to stay clear of relegation before they face Burton Albion, and they arrive having failed to score in each of their last three matches.

That leaves both clubs in a narrow contest where every goal, and every other result around the division, can change the table quickly. Exeter’s last home game ended 3-3 with Stockport, while Burton are already safe after a 1-1 draw with Exeter last week.

Playoff Race At Broadhall Way

Stevenage can seal a playoff place with a victory over Wigan at Broadhall Way. Stockport’s chances could disappear if they lose to Barnsley at Oakwell, and they go into the final day after a 2-1 home loss to Port Vale on Tuesday evening.

Bolton already took one playoff spot with a 1-1 draw at Bradford last weekend, while Luton need to avoid defeat to join them in the next phase. Luton have won seven and drawn two of their last nine league games and also lifted the EFL Trophy.

AFC Wimbledon’s Escape

AFC Wimbledon are no longer in the relegation fight after surviving last weekend with a 1-0 win at Wigan, sealed by Antwoine Hackford’s 90th-minute decider. That result removed one more name from the bottom-end scramble and left Exeter and Leyton Orient as the two clubs still under the strongest pressure on the last day.

Mansfield are already locked in midtable limbo, while Cardiff are already promoted and arrive with only their final-day result to play for. The Stags have lost only once in 12 league matches, and Cardiff have been turned over just once in ten, but the bigger stakes on Saturday sit with the four playoff places and the two clubs trying to escape the bottom end.
